This year, the Manoff Foundation is again offering internships to two Ukrainian students. We are excited to welcome back Ernest Protas, who is interning with us for a second year, as well as welcome our new intern Olesia Savka.
Ernest is a recent graduate of the Taft School who is heading to Amherst College this fall. Olesia graduated high school in Ternopil last year and took a gap year to work at the East Europe Foundation and apply to college. This fall, she will be attending Georgetown University in Qatar.
Olesia and Ernest began their internships in April and have already made a huge impact. To date, their primary responsibility has been managing ENGin, our peer-to-peer English speaking practice program. Ernest is leading the onboarding process for new students and volunteers, while Olesia manages current participants to ensure the best possible experience for them. Under their leadership, ENGin has grown to 550+ students and volunteers.
In addition to their work on ENGin, Olesia and Ernest have provided key support with the foundation's new UGS Jr. program, interviewing 60+ candidates. They are also involved in liaising with last year's Metelyk Grant recipients and PR/outreach tasks for the foundation.
Our interns continue to be a key resource for us, allowing the foundation to maximize its impact; we are also excited to offer Ukrainian youth unique opportunities to develop professional skills, gain leadership experience, and explore the social sector.
