The Manoff Foundation Launches Mentoring Program for Ukrainian Youth

This summer, the Manoff Foundation team launched UGS Jr., a new collaboration with Ukraine Global Scholars. UGS Jr. is a yearlong mentoring program for high-potential youth in Ukraine that aims to broaden participants’ thinking, help them develop clear goals, and support them in implementing growth plans to achieve these goals.

The program curriculum covers topics such as Discovering Your Purpose, Organizing and Managing an Independent Project, and How to Change the World. With a mentor's support, students will develop individualized growth plans, including specific goals and strategies for achieving each goal. Throughout the year, students will participate in live mentoring sessions to ensure continued progress toward goals and troubleshoot challenges. The program will also support students in strengthening their English and Math skills.

We are piloting UGS Jr. with an inaugural class of 5 students chosen from the broader UGS applicant pool through a rigorous selection process. In reviewing student applications and conducting interviews, our team looked for strong grades in school, success in pursuing one or more interests outside of school, and demonstrated interest in improving their community. We also evaluated students' motivation, values, depth of thinking, and coachability. Finally, we prioritized applicants from high-need backgrounds living outside major Ukrainian cities.

This year's UGS Jr. participants are -  Mariia Sorokina from Kovel Mariia Kotiuk from Lutsk Myroslav Bur from Krolevets Anna Lavrenchuk  from Hnivan Dariia Lukyanenko  from Kherson
